My How Time Flies

Yikes!  I looked up and it’s 2011.  I missed over a year.  I must follow up and say that our motorcycle friend has recovered remarkably well without any noticable ill effects.  It took him a long time and he doesn’t wear his hair quite so short any more but he and my DH have been out riding since and even took a 4 day trek across the northwest last summer.  I, however, haven’t been out riding much at all.  We never did have a wonderful summer so riding just got put on the back burner.  Most of my time has been taken up by my mom.  At the age of ninety she had many issues, mostly of having an active mind with a failing body.  In June of 2010 she decided to move into a reiterment home where she had a small 2 room apartment and life was not to be the same again.  Several months later she needed to be moved to a care facility.  It is a nice place but it’s still a care facility and she was there for 3 1/2 months before she just couldn’t stand it any more.  She moved for the last time to an Adult Home but was only there for 3 days before she decided it was time to go.   It’s been a long 6 months and we still have issues to deal with in her passing but I have  opted to make this the year of ‘no worries’ as I feel I have had my share for a while.  Through all of this I have also been dealing with a bad knee so the big event for the first of the year is knee surgery in March.  I am trying to plan ahead, get things lined up so I have things I can do.  It’s my right knee so I won’t be able to drive for a month.  I know that won’t keep me away from the store for that long.  I just need to get me a driver.  I started Weight Watchers to try and lose some weight before I go in and just because it’s a good thing to do.  Maybe by announcing it, it will keep me on course.  I’m down 4 lbs with a little over a month to go.  Yes, this year will be different and I’m working on ‘for the better’.  Thumbs up!
